So far, there were almost no chances for anyone to bring down the left pillars of the Lannister family, Cersei and Jaime. They were bound by blood, love, passion, and respect (at least from one side.) However, Jaime leaving Cersei might have just unleashed the end of their power. Even though Cersei has all the money in the world by her side, she has just lost her lighthouse to sanity.
Jaime Received the Final Straw in Season 7 Finale and Started to See Cersei for What She Is
Everyone believed that Jaime saw and forgave enough of Cersei’s abominable deeds to make him stick with her forever. However, the season 7 finale served the captain the last straw. He refuses to stay behind and help Cersei the moment he learns that the queen has no intention to keep her world.
She is going to betray the Starks and Targaryens by not aiding them with troops against the White Walkers. In the wake of the apocalypse, she will remain in King’s Landing to wait for her enemies with a large army of mercenaries.
On top of that, Cersei chose to collude with Euron Greyjoy behind his back. She also refuses to take part in the Great War of slaying the biggest enemy of them all, the undead. As a result, Jaime made up his mind. There are a few implications of Jaime leaving Cersei.
Jaime Leaving Cersei Could Lead to Several Outcomes
First of all, Jaime represents one of the most complex characters in this HBO TV show. He started off as a villain who attempted even to murder a child. However, his life experiences changed him into a wiser, more patient, and even better man than before.
This transformation of Jaime’s was completed the moment he chose to leave his lifetime partner behind to fight on the good side. While loyalty and love blinded him to see what the monster the rest of the world saw in Cersei, the way she chose to act on seeing the wight was a spell breaker. The dreadful strategy Cersei is planning against the truce is shocking enough for Jaime to open his eyes finally.
Secondly, Cersei surrounded herself only with people that agree with her views. By comparison, Daenerys chose councilors that offer her a comprehensive view on any matter. Therefore, Cersei will have no more limits without Jaime. She will grow stronger in her beliefs with no one telling her otherwise. Eventually, Cersei will descend into the Mad Queen.
Finally, the Game of Thrones theory that predicts Jaime will unleash his inner king slayer side has more reasons to come true. Cersei’s prophecy she received as a little girl hinted that a brother would be her end. With him finally seeing Cersei for what she is, Jaime might be the one that kills Cersei.
