Updates are one of the most regular things we come upon in our everyday life any they may come from our social media accounts, from our favorite games, or from the programs we use at work. This time, it is Twitter the one that has new updates in store: new stickers and emoticons are now available for all Twitter users.
IT and social media fans have a new reason to be excited about: about two months ago, the popular social media platform suggested another funny way of editing your photos. The idea was inspired by Snapchat and consists of adding stickers and emoticons to your pictures. What does it bring new from the already existing ways of editing your photos? The answer has to do with the stickers and emoticons: they are not ordinary, small, colorful graphics, but stand as logos and labels of famous brands.
One of the most appreciated brands that are already part of the project is Pepsi. This should come as no surprise since Pepsi has been involved in many similar projects throughout the years, whose target have always been young people related to the idea of entertainment.
Pepsi has eight stickers and emoticons that can be used in photos, and only one of it is clearly marked with the label. Most of them are colorful smiley faces, and another one is very interesting, for “champions” only: it is a trophy.
The president of the drinking soda company explained the purpose of this campaign, suggesting that using stickers and emoticons can actually be more than just adding funny effects to a photo:
“By allowing people to add our emojis directly to their photos, we’re giving fans a whole new way to engage. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a picture with Pepsi stickers can really spark a conversation.”
Twitter has not released any statement so far, so there are no details on how the partnership between them and Pepsi actually works regarding payment and profits. Nevertheless, Twitter did suggest that the campaign is quite popular, as “millions of photos” have been already edited with the new stickers and emoticons. So it looks like Twitter found a very creative way of advertising, thus making money, and keeping users entertained, at the same time.
It doesn’t matter if you are a fan of emoji or not, you should try at least once the new stickers and emoticons provided by Twitter and Pepsi. There is nothing to lose!
