Apple Inc., the Cupertino-based tech giant, has recently recorded anther success with its first wearable device which the Silicon Valley company has ever produced. After the Apple Watch became highly popular on tech forums all over the world wide web and registered sales which were more than satisfactory, Lufthansa, the largest airline in the European Union, intends to launch Apple Watch app for its customers.
Since the official release in April 2015 Apple watch has become quite popular. After Lufthansa’ announcement from May 16th the device will become popular among a specific group of clients: travelers. This is great news for the company because it indicates that the Apple Watch has become an important gadget which has gotten the attention of important names in other fields than technology.
Lufthansa is offering its client the possibility to use the Apple Watch as a boarding card and also to provide them with flight information which will be displayed on the device. The app is destined to provide passengers with important flight information at which they have access 24 hours before their flight. The new app on the wearable device connects to Lufthansa app on iPads and iPhones via Bluetooth. After the sales launch it will be available for free at the App Store any time.
The German airline promises that the original app will be the perfect travel companion. The app will allow passengers to access vital flight data which is up-to-date, such as terminal numbers, seat numbers, flight statuses, boarding times and the current time and weather of their destination. So the Lufthansa app offers the same essential data as a boarding pass.
Chief Commercial Officer Jens Bischof and member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board Product (Marketing & Sales) remarked:
“The importance of mobile applications is continuing to grow rapidly. As a leading airline, we want to continuously expand our prime position – not just on board our flights and on the ground, but also in the area of mobile applications and digital services.”
He also added that the company’s goal is to provide their clients with real-time information and service at all virtual touch points in order to make the travel experience more comfortable. With this app the passengers can access the vital information about their flight without needing to take their smartphone out of their bag.
The travel industry is expanding rapidly with millennials who use mobile apps very frequently, accounting for an important amount of business. Since more than 50% of Lufthansa’s passengers already prefer to check online or to use mobile boarding passes, there is no wonder that the Apple Watch Lufthansa App will be popular.
