After being bashed by countless of discontented users, it would seem that Apple has decided to do something about famous MacBook Pro’s famous Touch Bar. The ultra-sensitive Touch Bar can now be transformed into a full-fledged musical instrument thanks to the Touch Bar Piano application, which was recently published on Apple’s iStore.
You may recall the jokes about the new MacBook Pro being outfitted with all the bells and whistles except an Escape key. At that time, Apple declared that the touch sensitive pad featured an ESC key, the users found out that it could not be used in all applications.
And now, Apple’s come up with something wackier than omitting to add an Escape key to a $1,300 notebook. Introducing the Touch Bar Piano, a quaint little application which allows the user to simulate over 100 musical instruments, including the majestic acoustic grand piano.
So, how does this marvelous piece of software engineers work? Head to Apple’s iStore, download the installation package, install the application, fire it up, select your instrument of choice, and start playing. It’s as simple as that.
With the notebook’s Touch Bar being very responsive, you’ll see no difference in response between Touch Bar Piano and a regular acoustic grand piano. The only downside to this whole deal is that the virtual keys are very small, and, if you have bulky fingers, you might end up playing two or three note at once without realizing.
According to Apple, the Touch Bar piano can simulate 128 fully polyphonic musical instruments, including acoustic guitar, electric guitar, acoustic/electric bass guitar, and, of course, acoustic grand piano.
Please bear in mind that the application is only compatible with the MacBook Pro Touch Bar. However, if you don’t own a MacBook Pro but still want to test out this type of app, you can go ahead and download Touché and then install Touch Bar Piano.
Touché is a Touch Bar emulator which works with most Macs running MacOS 10.12.1 or later. Install the application, fire it up, and the iconic Touch Bar will appear on your screen. All that remains is to download Touch Bar Piano and start playing out with its musical library.
Note that both applications (Touch Bar Piano and Touché) can be downloaded for free.
