Brookline authorities discovered the decomposing body of an elder woman in a Clinton Street apartment. Coroner’s report suggests that the woman passed away one year ago of natural causes. The woman’s sister was also living in the same apartment.
A woman from Brookline, Massachusetts made a gruesome discovery when she went to help her cousin clean the apartment she owned on Clinton Street. According to the ongoing investigations, the decomposing body found inside the Brookline home belonged to an elder woman who shared the apartment with her sister.
A couple of days ago, the deceased’s sister called another family member, a cousin. The woman had asked her cousin to help her put the trash out and to take a closer look at some faulty pipes. Note that the woman’s cousin did not enter the apartment in at least two years.
After entering the house, the woman and her cousin sensed a foul odor coming from the kitchen. When the two women conversed on the phone, the cousin asked the woman if her sister would be willing to help them with the chore.
The woman replied that they could ask her when they went inside the house. Upon entering the kitchen, the woman, and her cousin found the decomposing body of the elder woman, and immediately notified the local authorities.
David Traub, a communications director, working at Michael Morrissey’s District Attorney office declared that the woman probably passed away in July 2015. Also, Traub declared that the coroner’s report confirmed that the woman died of natural causes and that there are no signs to indicate foul play.
The elder woman, whose name was not made public, was at least 70-years old when she passed away in her Clifton Street home. However, the case becomes even more peculiar, when the investigators uncovered that the elder woman was not alone in the house, but sharing the apartment with her sister.
Even though the woman passed away over a year ago, her sister continued to occupy the same apartment, despite the odor emanating from the kitchen. Also, the authorities declared that the house had fallen into disrepair and that the decomposing body’s smell might have been masked by the leaking pipes and the trash cluttering the apartment.
At the moment, Brookline authorities are trying to establish how the woman managed to remain oblivious to her sister’s demise.
