English Mastiff Puppy Shot 27 Times with BB Gun and Pellets
On Saturday morning, Hayden Howard, an Indiana resident, was shocked to discover that someone tried to kill Jackson, his 100-pound English Mastiff puppy. According to the man’s statements, the pup’s condition hasn’t immediately drawn his attention, as his behavior was unchanged.
It appears that Jackson was playing outside in the man’s fenced courtyard when the accident occurred. Howard declared that when he came back inside the house, Jackson was behaving normally, following his master around wherever he went.
Upon looking at Jackson, the man saw a couple of little holes on his fur. He told the investigators that he paid little attention to them, as Jackson would often get bit by fleas or ticks. However, when he looked closer, the man realized that those weren’t flea bites, but actual holes.
Seeing the state of his pup, the man rushed him to a vet in order to have Jackson examined. After taking a look at the pup’s holes, the vets realized that the poor dog was wounded by what appeared to be airsoft gun ammunition.
In order to remove the foreign bodies, the vets had to shave all of Jackson’s fur. Howard said that after a thorough examination, the vets found no less than 27 pellets and BB gun ammo protruding Jackson’s skin. They’ve even found pellets in the pup’s eyelids, his knees, and his ears.
Jackson Is Alright And Will Make a Full Recovery
After some work, the vets managed to extract all of the pellets. At the moment, the English Mastiff pup is recovering at the vet center. Meanwhile, the Indiana authorities have begun an investigation to determine who shot the poor door.
According to an Indiana Police Department spokesperson, while investigating Howard’s fenced courtyard, the law enforcement officers recovered more than 60 pellets and BB gun ammo. However, they have yet to identify any suspects.
To this end, the Indiana authorities announced that they would offer a $500 reward to anyone with information that may lead to the capture of the suspects.
