Th Exploding Kittens app is based on the popular card game.
Good news for the fans of kittens, goats, tacos, and explosions, Exploding Kittens can be played on Android devices, too. The popular card game was first adapted into an app for iOS devices, but it has now been modified to be compatible with Android, too. There is no available news for Windows Phone users.
The initial Exploding Kittens game was a card game; a strategic masterpiece that made you think about Russian Roulette. Of course, there are no bullets involved, only kittens that are prone to exploding if they are not engaged with a laser beam or bribed with a catnip sandwich.
The rules of the game are simple. You take the stack of cards and place it face down on the table. Then the players draw cards. If they get an exploding kitten they die, that is, if they don’t have a card at hand like a catnip sandwich or a laser that will diffuse the kitten, and let the player remain in the game.
Exploding Kittens broke records ever since it was in its developmental stage. Oatmeal created a Kickstarter account to transform it from card game into a mobile app. And in just 20 minutes they managed to reach $10,000.
At the end of the campaign, Oatmeal managed to raise more than 1,000 times more money than they initially asked for, meaning that the public was really anxious to see the Exploding Kittens card game.
Naturally, when the game eventually came out, it was a hit, selling millions of copies. And because the concept and artwork were original and incredibly stunning, they decided to make an app out of the beloved card game.
So Oatmeal adapted it for iOS a couple of weeks ago, and now Exploding Kittens can be played on Android devices, too. Unfortunately, there is no news if the creators are planning to make a version compatible with Windows mobile devices.
The app is available on Google and Apple Play Store at the astonishing price of $1,99. Of course, there is an additional $1,99 cost for the expansion pack.
The mobile game supports a minimum of two players, but it could be played in up to five people. The app was designed to allow people to play with friends or stranger, and it also features backwards compatibility, individuals using different devices being able to play a match together.
Caution is needed, though, because this game can ruin or create friendships. It’s all in the manner in which you play it.
