Yesterday Fallout dominated BAFTA game awards, the developers of the fourth installment of the saga leaving with the award for best game. Other incredible performances were “Rocket League” and “Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture” who managed to win three categories each at the 12th edition of the annual BAFTA ceremony.
British Development, Sam Barlow, and The Chinese Room managed to walk away from the ceremony with three BAFTA awards each.
The best game made in the UK was “Batman: Arkham Knight”, and “Life is Strange” was awarded best story.
After winning the best music award, Jessica Curry, a member of the team that worked on “Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture” gave a memorable speech. The woman said:
“I am a left wing feminist with a degenerative disease who tried to bring down a major publisher. It’s a miracle I’m here.”
The best game design award was given to “Bloodborne”, a Software creation based on HP Lovecraft’s stories. Also, the best artistic achievement prize was handed to “Blind Forest” and Ori.
John Carmack, a legend in the gaming industry, was awarded the artistic achievement prize. Carmack is basically the founding father of FPS games, and a pioneer when it comes to 3D graphics. The lead programmer of DOOM’s original series is now Oculus VR’s CTO.
When asked about the soundtrack that landed her a BAFTA award for best Music, Jessica Curry declared that she owes her inspiration to her husband. He told her that a song must tell the story of a game when you take the game away.
She said that all games are unique in their own way and that they can tell stories that nothing else can. Curry draws inspiration from Beethoven, Joni Mitchell, Elgar, choral Anglican music, Vaughan Williams and The Cardiacs.
