Pokemon Go!
Pokemon was a real and successful phenomenon during the childhood of people in their twenties or thirties nowadays: a colorful and exciting series of adventure cartoons. The phenomenon popped out again via a spin-off (if it can be called so): the super popular Pokemon Go application.
The call of the Pokemon has been too strong for millions of smartphone users around the world to resist it. The overnight popularity of the game took everyone by surprise, including its developers. Considering that “great power comes with great responsibility,” the developers have now another weight on their shoulders: keeping all the players satisfied.
Pokemon Go enjoys great popularity in users’ various sectors of age. Some of them are skilled, and some… not that much. Nevertheless, the creators of the game took responsibility for one of the application’s faults, which impedes users to catch their Pokemon properly.
Pokemon Go users report that a recent update increased the level of difficulty of the game, regarding Pokemon ownership and hunting. In other words, Pokemon is harder to find and catch, and also tends to escape from their pokeballs. Hence the player loses them. The game developers acknowledge the situation and have publicly promised to make amends:
“(…)a new bug affecting throw accuracy increases the odds of escape and omits the XP bonus. We are working on a fix, stay tuned.”
Pokemon Go is one of the best augmentative reality games developed for smartphones. In addition to the actual game happening on the screen (the player searching and catching the Pokemon), there are also some specially designed places, called Pokestops, where players can recharge pokeballs, train their Pokemon and find other items which might come in handy in their hunt.
The craze around Pokemon Go filled the bank accounts of game companies such as Nintendo and Niantic. Their budget has increased by almost $42 billion.
Some small inconveniences are not enough to get Pokemon Go enthusiasts to quit the game. Moreover, since they know for sure they are not to blame if their Pokemon runs away or ‘s hard to capture, they have no reason to quit. They just wait for the tech specialist to do their job and to operate any necessary updates so that they can enjoy the game on.
