A four-year old boy’s leg was amputated after he was mauled by his police father’s K-9. The boy was attacked by the said dog, according to a neighbor who saved him from the attack. The said incident happened in the home of Michael Mastaler, a Rialto police officer.
He returned home with the Belgian Malinois, named Jango, from his weekend training session, and then he put it in his backyard. He went upstairs to change, while he left his son playing video games inside their home.
After a few minutes, the son of Jeff Houlemard, their neighbor, saw that the little boy was being tossed around by the angry dog which took him by the leg. To stop it, Houlemard knocked down a wooden fence and carried it with his shoulder to get the child. He then kicked Jango, and leaped on top of it when it did not release the boy. He said that he ripped the dog’s mouth open and then started choking it.
