A police officer was dispatched to Gong’s apartment to investigate the man’s claims. Upon arriving at the individual’s apartment, the officer could not find Gong’s mother nor any sign which might suggest that a murder took place on the premises.
When the officer asked the 25-year-old Honolulu man about his mother’s whereabouts, Gong, with a remorseful mien, point towards the kitchen and told the officer to look in the freezer. Upon opening Gong’s freezer, the officer discovered several body parts which probably belonged to Gong’s deceased mother.
The officer immediately arrested Gong and called his colleagues to retrieve the body parts and sent them to the Coroner’s Office for a post-mortem examination. According to the Honolulu Police Department, seven bags containing various body parts were retrieving from Gong’s freezer.
A Heated Argument Turns into Murder
The post-mortem examination revealed that the woman died as a result of blunt trauma to the head. According to the Honolulu man’s testimony, the murder occurred last year, around Christmas. Gong was at home with his mother, when the two of the started arguing over the man’s life choices. Reportedly, the woman was disappointed by Gong abandoning his studies to pursue a career.
Gong told the investigators that he got angry during the conversation and lost control. The woman’s disappearance was noticed by her employer after the woman failed to come to work after the holidays.
However, according to the authorities, each time someone tried to reach Gong’s mother, the phone would either ring busy, or Gong would respond, saying that his mother was away, visiting her relatives in the other part of the island.
For murdering and dismembering his mother’s body, the Honolulu man has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently being held on a $2 million bond.
