As everything in the era of technology changes so quickly, the social media couldn’t possibly stay behind. You should update too, because this new Instagram feature might be the change you have been waiting for. Why? Because it gives you more control over your account by allowing you to modify your comment section.
Up until now, the aim of new properties of social media platforms was to allow users to add more information and to bring extra tools. Instagram developers thought of a new way of improving users online experience: the possibility of deleting unpleasant commentaries and removing unwanted feedback.
Having such liberty on the online platforms led users to turn the experience of sharing photos, memories and moments into a nasty one, because of people criticizing and posting mean comments on Instagram (and other popular social media accounts as well). The negative reactions from users worldwide also led to a situation which can be classified as cyberbullying – a form of online harassment.
Not only words can hurt people, but images too – especially because of the way in which technology is advancing. So memes are part of the means of harassing people online. And this type of hater posters might want to think twice before clicking on their opinion and making it available for all the internet.
What the designers of the Instagram new feature had in mind when they came up with this idea was to give users more control over their own account. They declared for the Washington Post that their project is twofold: on the one hand, users can decide which words should not appear in their comment section, and, on the other, they can also choose to turn off the option of photo comments being posted.
The plan for this Instagram change is set, but it has not been released yet.
This is what Nick Jackson Colaco declared for Washington Post, on behalf of Instagram:
“Our goal is to make Instagram a friendly, fun and, most importantly, safe place for self-expression.”
So the Instagram new feature has all the odds of being appreciated by users around the world. What this project offers to users is not only more power and privacy when it comes to own account, but also provides a peaceful environment on the internet – which is quite necessary, if we keep an eye out for online aggression.
