A similar MacBook Pro laptop saved the life of a school teacher during the infamous Lauderdale airport shooting.
It would seem that a teacher traveling to the city of Atlanta miraculously survived the Lauderdale Airport shooting after his school’s laptop stopped a bullet. Steve Frappier, a 37-years old school teacher, can be considered, at the moment, the luckiest man on the planet, after he miraculously escaped the Lauderdale airport shooter.
For those of you who are not up to date with the news, on the 6th of January 2017, 26-years old male, later identified as being Esteban Santiago, drew out a gun from his luggage, and started shooting the passengers in the check-in area. According to the authorities, before Santiago was subdued, he managed to injure at least ten people and kill five others.
Steve Frappier was among the passengers waiting for his baggage when bullets started flying around him. In an interview, the man recalls hearing the sound of gunshots and people trying to get out of the check-in area.
FBI’s official investigation revealed that the man managed to shot at least 13 people before they had a chance of leaving the check-in area. Frappier said that he owes his life to his MacBook Pro. He said that when the shooting started, he dropped on the floor. Note that the whole time the man was wearing a bulky backpack containing his laptop.
As he lay on the ground, the man felt a pressure on his back. However, he paid no attention to it, as the danger passed. The next moment, Frappier managed to flee the scene. He ended up hiding in a bathroom stall, waiting for the authorities to apprehend the author of the Lauderdale airport shooter.
During the time he spent hiding in the bathroom stall, Frappier took off his backpack to determine why he felt that pressure. Upon examining the contents of his backpack, Frappier had the shock of his life, as he realized how close to death he really was.
According to the man’s statements, one of the bullets fired from Esteban’s gun pierced the laptop’s display, traveled all the through the chassis, only to exit through one of its exhaust ports. The man declared that if it hadn’t been for the MacBook Pro, he would have probably wound up in the hospital with a life-threatening injury.
As for the Lauderdale Airport shooting, the authorities are still trying to determine if the author worked alone, or this was part of a much larger terrorist attack.
