A 36-year-old man murdered his mother on Mother’s Day and then proceeded to take her decapitate head to the local store where he stabbed the 66-year-old checkout clerk. He is now in police custody.
The Man Travelled to Another Town with His Mother’s Head in Tow
On Sunday afternoon, in the logging town of Colton, 40 miles southeast of Portland, while mothers throughout the country were pampered by their families, Joshua Lee Webb murdered his 59-year-old mother, Tina Marie Webb.
The murderer – who according to his father suffered from a severe visual deficit – decapitated his mother, took her severed head, and went on his way to a Thriftway shop in the nearby town of Estacada. All witnesses were petrified at his sight as the man was covered in blood and carrying his mother’s head in one hand and a bloody kitchen knife in the other.
Upon entering the store, Webb focused his attention on Michael Wagner, a white-haired clerk known for his big heart and witty sense of humor. Before anybody had time to react to the gruesome sight, Webb stabbed Wagner a couple of times. Luckily, the other employees were able to subdue him, keeping him restrained until local authorities arrived at the scene.
Ernie Roberts, the interim police chief in Sandy, Oregon, declared the man was catatonic, refusing to speak, except for the moment when he calmly said he was thirsty.
His Mother Suspected He Was Depressed
David Webb learned about his wife’s death and his son’s arrest on the same day. The man was shocked and in tears when addressing the media, mentioning that his wife suspected Joshua was depressed, buying him a dog to lift his spirits.
An autopsy has not been performed yet, and other details of the murder were not released. Michael Wagner is currently hospitalized, doctors expecting a full recovery.
