Marietta Couple's Child Abuse Case

A Marietta couple was recently arrested and charged with child cruelty.

The authorities from the town of Marietta, Georgia have recently confirmed that a couple has been arrested and charged with child cruelty after pouring salt over child’s buttocks and spanking with a thin piece of wood. The individuals were arrested shortly after the boy’s teacher reported seeing blood seeping out of the boy’s pants.

Marietta authorities recently took Adaugo Queen Ohandjo and Odhanjo Patience Ohandjo into custody on charges of child abuse and cruelty. According to the couple’s affidavit, it would appear that the 7-year-old child involved in the incident, was living with his biological mother in the city. However, the boy has recently moved in to live with his biological father, Odhanjo Patience Ohandjo and Adaugo Queen Ohandjo, the man’s wife and the child’s soon-to-be stepmother.

According to the authorities, while the 7-year-old child was attending one of his classes, the teacher asked him to sit down, to which the boy replied that he couldn’t because his buttocks hurt. Upon taking a closer look at the child, the teacher saw that his pants were covered in blood.

The boy was immediately transported to the local Children’s Hospital where he received treatment for his wounds. As far as the ER doctors could tell, someone tossed a handful of salt on the 7-year-old’s buttocks and brutally spanked him using a thin object.

Following the Marietta couple’s arrest, the authorities learned that this was nothing more than a mother’s attempt at disciplining her child. The woman’s police interview revealed that the boy was having trouble adapting after he moved in with his biological father and adoptive mother, and he had several school issues.

Ohandjo Patience also told the police that his wife didn’t have the experience nor the patience to discipline the boy, and so they’ve resorted to this rather Medieval disciplinary method. The investigators discovered that after the mother had tossed salt over the boy’s buttocks, she used a thin piece of wood in order to spank him.

For the child’s treatment, the couple was arrested and charged with child cruelty. However, the child’s biological father was charged only with one count of second-degree child cruelty for failing to bring his child to a medical facility. As for the mother, she was charged with first-degree child cruelty. A magistrate set the Marietta couple’s bonds at $21,500 each.

The couple attorney declared that the boy’s bleeding might have been the result of severe skin condition he had.
