By making another official home for Mario on Ebay, Nintendo is pretty much everywhere at this point.
Taking into consideration that the Christmas season is slowly starting to rear its joyous and cheerful head, it’s not surprising that Nintendo has officially launched its online store on Ebay.
Nintendo is planning to sell through this store a plethora of both hardware and software, especially refurbished ones to buyers worldwide. The company most likely did this to have a second trustworthy marketplace for the coming sales period of the year. People can now buy second-hand games and consoles from a more reliable source, the company itself, without having to worry about the strangers who are selling them.
The online store doesn’t have the auction element commonly found on Ebay, it only has the Buy It Now option and at this moment, it doesn’t really have much to offer. This will most likely change in the coming weeks in order to give people another option when opting to buy Nintendo related products besides normal brick-and-mortar stores and other online retailers.
Another reason for this launch is that the official Nintendo e-shop was not really something easily recognizable and did not have a wide-spread use among customers, some even calling it a bit clunky. But by choosing the well-known site Ebay, they will most likely benefit from the sites’ worldwide popularity.
Considering that the Wii-U and other Nintendo consoles are still extremely popular to this day, being able to even remain in the next gen console race alongside PS4 and Xbox One, mainly due to the fact that it already has a very large offering of games, it’s pretty safe to say that an increased sales figure will surely come up in the next month during Christmas.
The Nintendo 3DS is still in the lead when it comes to handheld consoles, with almost no competition, the PS Vita being long forgotten by both the company and its consumers. With the launch of the 3DS XL and the cheaper 2DS that came earlier this year, having the option of buying a refurbished one from the company itself is a pretty big opportunity for those who don’t have the console yet.
The only product that has a lower price than the normal retail value is a Nintendo Wii Fit U bundle, which is pretty random. Some people claim that the company chose this product in order to approach a much wider demographic. Gamers and Nintendo fans already have benefited from bundles and sales throughout the years and some people who are not interested in regular games might think twice and opt to buy a Wii Fit U from Ebay, who knows.
With that being said, the news that Nintendo has officially launched its online store on Ebay is a pretty good for both the gaming company and consumers across the nation.
