Three nurses from Saudi Arabia got suspended after they mistreated a sick newborn baby. They filmed themselves as one of them was squishing the baby’s face, while the other two laughed heartily at the sight. The health officials in the city quickly identified the source of the video, and took drastic measures against the women.
The nurses mistreated the baby and filmed everything
The incident took place in the Mecca province, in the city of Ta’if. As soon as the video surfaced online, everybody was distressed to see how the nurses maliciously made fun of the sick baby. Also, they mistreated and potentially hurt him, raising a huge number of concerns.
The Health Affairs of the city took action immediately, and shortly identified where the video came from. This way, it could find who the three abusers were, and they were immediately suspended, together with their medical licenses.
The baby’s parents want the nurses to be harshly punished
The baby had been admitted to the hospital because of a urinary tract infection, and was supposed to spend 10 days there. As soon as the nurses uploaded the video on social media, the baby’s father discovered it. He couldn’t believe it was his baby he was seeing, so he immediately made an official complaint at the Ministry of Health.
The man wanted that both the nurses who abused his baby and the people who shared the video on social media to suffer penalties. Now, the court is trying to prove the abuse was real. If it is so, then the three women will be punished more severely than they have already been.
Although the video was overly shared on social media, most people blamed the behavior of the nurses. They say nobody’s life should be treated like a joke, and are appalled that medical personnel could act like that. Others suggest that all hospital rooms and hallways should have surveillance cameras, so that such incidents should either be stopped or detected from the beginning.
