Scientists all over the world, but especially American scientists, are enthusiastic when thinking of August 2017. This time, next year, we will be witnessing a solar eclipse, visible from America, which didn’t happen in about forty years.
A solar eclipse is not an unusual phenomenon. The scientific explanation is that the Moon passes between the Sun and The Earth, making everything dark for a moment, as it is a total solar eclipse. It is important for American scientists because it will be completely visible from the U.S. The last time something like this happened was back in 1979.
The mighty astrological event is scheduled for August 21, 2017. It will be of big proportions, and people all over the United States will be able to see it in the sky. It will start in the Northwest and will descend towards the Southeast.
There is no need for specialized appliances or modern technology to watch the solar eclipse. You can perceive it with your eyes, but the dark and lights effects can damage your vision. This is why specialists advise people to watch the solar eclipse only with specially designed glasses on. They are not difficult to find.
Only a few cities in the United States are on the trajectory of the Moon passing by the Sun, so the people here will see the total solar eclipse. It will happen in certain areas, like Salem, Oregon, South Carolina. The people in the rest of the country will experience only a partial eclipse.
The difference between a partial and a total eclipse of the sun is that, in the first case, the Moon covers the Sun entirely, whereas, on the second case, the Moon covers only a part of the Sun. During a total solar eclipse, it is dark during the daytime, just like at night-time, and you can see stars and planets. It only lasts for a couple of minutes.
Researcher Theo Wellington thinks that Central Park is the best place in the United States to witness the solar eclipse in August 2017. According to The Tennessean, she stated the following:
“The path of the eclipse slices sideways across Tennessee; the closer you are to the middle the longer it lasts.”
Specialists know the date for the following solar eclipse, except for the one next year. The other one will occur in 2024.
Although there is one year left to the event, you might want to remember the date: August 21, 2017, total eclipse of Sun in America.
