York County Sheriff’s Office declared during a recent press conference that during a recent armed confrontation, four sheriff’s deputies were wounded. The alleged gunman was apprehended later that day. One of the officers shot during the arrest is in critical condition.
Domestic Disturbance Call Turns into a Massacre
According to Trent Farris, a spokesperson for the York County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday night, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the authorities were summoned to a house on Farrier Lane. The caller told the 911 dispatcher that an armed individual assaulted a woman.
Minutes later, the authorities arrived to question the suspect. However, the man became violent and managed to break free and flee into the woods. There followed a harrowing on-foot pursuit which lasted for several hours.
According to Farris, a K-9 unit was also summoned to the Farrier Lane house to help the officers track down the suspect. Moments later, the hounded individual exchanged fire with the pursuing officers, wounding one member of the K-9 unit.
During the firefight, three more law enforcement officers were wounded before the individual was subdued. The authorities declared that the suspect, later identified as 47-year-old Christian Thomas McCall, was also wounded during the fire exchange.
All five individuals were rushed to the nearest hospital for emergency surgery. Farris stated that three of police officers and the suspect have non-lethal wounds, but, unfortunately, the fourth police office sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds and was listed as being in critical condition.
The suspect will be brought up on charges soon after he will be discharged from the hospital. In the closing statements of the press conference, the York County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson declared that the on-foot pursuit and the fire exchange stemmed from what appears to be a case of domestic disturbance.
