BMW 2017 New Series

May 18, 2016 By Graziella Paone Leave a Comment

"BMW, people, new model"

BMW 2017 2-series will be available soon.

BMW has great news once again as the 2017 2-series are announced to be better than the previous ones in design and also in quality.

The M235i’s six-cylinder turbo and the 228i’s turbocharged four-cylinder are going to be surpassed by the new members of the BMW team. These new models are better than the others in efficiency, torque, and power.

Even the names are different as the 2-series convertibles and coupes will be known as 230i, whereas the six-cylinder M235i will be called M240i. The 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six, code-named B58, of the M240i, is she same engine as the one installed in the BMW 340i. The M240i is expected to have at least the same features as the 340i. This B58 model will have 335 horsepower, a little bit more than the M235i’s N55, and torque increases from 39 lb-ft to 369 lb-ft.

According to the company, this new engine will grant the car the possibility of reaching from 0 to 60 mph, faster than the previous model by 0.2 seconds. Still, the rear-wheel-drive M240i will have both the eight-speed automatic and the six-speed manual whereas only the automatic has the optional xDrive all-wheel-drive hardware.

The other model also has similar features with the previous ones. The new 230i’s turbocharged four-cylinder comes from the same modular engine family as the six and is stronger than the one belonging to the 228i. Even if it displaces 2.0 liters, the torque rises from 3 lb-ft to 258 and the horsepower increases by 8 to 248.

Regarding the rear-wheel-drive coupe models, an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual are offered, whereas if you want a convertible or/and an all-wheel drive, you will have to go with the automatic. Besides the numbers on the badges, these are the new features included in the 2017 2-series lineup. Both the M240i and the 230i are still available in convertible and coupe body styles.

It is believed that prices will not change too much from the 2016 base prices of $45,145 for the M235i and $33,845 for the 228i coupe. During this summer, people will find out more about the 2017 2-series because they will also become available for the customers. With this two models, BMW is going once again to try winning some terrain on the market.
