The American game development company Harmonix released a Twitter post on Tuesday, revealing their launch of a crowdfunding campaign meant to revive the famous “Rock Band 4” music game and make it available for PC users.
The first game of the franchise was released in 2007 and saw its fourth installment in 2015, having been released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 6th. Since then, numerous fans have asked Harmonix to develop the game for PC, as well.
It seems as though the American game developers have been paying attention to their fans’ request, because now they are seriously planning on making their dream come true.
There is one little catch, however: The gamers will have to come up with USD $1.5 million by April 5th or it will not be developed.
The company has initiated a crowdfunding campaign on Fig and they are hoping to raise an awful lot of money from their supporters. The campaign is said to run for 35 days and if it turns out to be successful, Harmonix plans to release the PC version on Steam in the third trimester of 2016.
According to official reports, the PC game will display the same features as the console one, but there is one reward in store for those who decide to contribute to this campaign. As a token of their appreciation, Harmonix will offer Fig backers up to 33 additional songs.
In terms of the instruments used in the game, most of old ones will be available for the PC version, however there are some exceptions, because of certain adapters mentioned on the campaign’s page.
PC users will also get to experience Rock Band Network, which is a set of tools that allow you to create song files and later sell them.
Gamers will be able to use Steam Workshop support if they want to share their music with other people from the community or even sell it and get a percentage of the profit for each song that’s been sold.
Rock Band is a music video game developed by Harmonix in 2015, which allows players to pretend that they’re part of a music band and play various instruments, such as drums, bass guitar and even sing using a USB microphone.
In total, there have been over 13 million copies of this game sold worldwide, amounting to more than $1 billion in revenues.
