Michigan Children’s Hospitals ranked highest this year.
The United States has many hospitals which provide patients with all the support they need. After the latest Best Children’s Hospital rankings of this year, three hospitals from Michigan were regarded as some of the best.
The top was made based on 10 distinct features such as urology; pulmonology; orthopedics; neurosurgery and neurology; nephrology; neonatology; gastroenterology and surgery; endocrinology and diabetes; heart surgery and cardiology; and cancer.
The data was collected from 106 hospitals to establish which are ranked the best. The best hospital in Michigan was University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. It was ranked in the top 50 with all specialties besides urology, endocrinology, and diabetes.
Furthermore, nephrology was ranked at number 23, whereas heart surgery and cardiology had the highest rank, number 7.
According to Paul King, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital executive director, they are happy to be among the top children’s hospitals in the United States, as they are devoted to supporting and saving children suffering from many dangerous and rare health problems.
He also added that this year’s ranking showed that the hospital’s work and efforts paid off. Next is the DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan located in Detroit, having four specialties among the top 50. Neurosurgery and neurology were ranked number 33, while orthopedics occupied the 28th position.
It is also worth mentioning that the third Michigan hospital with three specialties among the top 50 was Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Nephrology was ranked number 48, urology number 47, whereas cancer was ranked the highest, number 42.
Furthermore, Michigan had a top of 11 hospitals with the highest rank in at least three specialties. Among them were Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
In addition to this, Boston Children’s Hospital was ranked the highest, having all 10 specialties among the top 50. The ranking was calculated based on various factors and on every specialty which was analyzed individually.
Around 30 percent was accounted by experts regarding the medical outcome, surgical complications, infections, and survival. Plus, over 50 percent consisted of family-centeredness, excellence, and safety. The remaining 15 percent was based on an annual survey of pediatric specialists and hospital’s reputation. All in all, it seems that children from Michigan have the best medical benefits.
