The Find my Phone apps keep sending users to a house in Atlanta. The mystery that involves the apps has been going on for almost a year now.

Michael Saba and Christina Lee did not expect people to start arriving at their house asking for their phones, when the Find my Phone apps were launched. But angry strangers asking for their lost phones are not the only ones that have visited the couple. The police officers sometimes went at their home, after accusations from users were filed at the police station. Unfortunately, the couple didn’t get away with accusations. One time, the couple was asked to wait outside for an hour, while the police searched their home for a teenage girl who was missing. Her phone was tracked to the couple’s home as well.

According to Kashmir Hill from Fusion, no solution has been found to the strange problem by the experts. Different carriers are being currently associated with the lost phones, like Boost Mobile, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon and AT&T. Unfortunately for the couple, there are no agencies that deal with these kinds of situation, not even the FCC.

Because Saba and Lee have been getting a lot of visits at unexpected hours during the day and night, they have registered their WI-FI router address with the help of Skyhook, but that didn’t seem to help their situation either. Skyhook company deals with geolocation information for apps. The couple has even filed a complaint to the local police departments, but again with no help.

Experts are still trying to find out what might cause the app to send the users to the same location over and over again. Ken Weston, who is a security analyst stated that the cell tower triangulation might be causing this unfortunate situation. The cell tower triangulation caused similar problems for a man who was headquartered in Las Vegas. Sprint identified his home as being the location of multiple lost phones. A forensics expert from Apple called Jonathan Zdziarski, said that the WI-FI data might have a flaw. He said that the users either licensed the same WI-FI maps for the geolocation which has a flawed data, either the GPS data is bad.

As the Find my Phone apps keep sending users to a house in Atlanta and more and more apps that promise to get back your lost phone are being developed every day, this type of issues might occur to more people, if the error is not found and corrected.
