Touching Story of Orphaned Kangaroo Hugging His Teddy-Bear
It’s said that a hug can do wonders, as all of us might need one, not only at difficult times in our lives.
Tim Beshara, media advisor to an Australian senator, tweeted a photo sent by his mother, a licensed wildlife caretaker, of the little kangaroo named Doodlebug hugging his best friend – a teddy bear. It seems orphaned animals often respond very well to stuffed toys. It certainly worked for Doodlebug. The adorable wildlife creature is 15-month-old.
Beshara sent the following message via Twitter:
“My mum (a wild-life carer) sent me this. Showing the value of a good hug, especially for an orphaned wallaby. #wildoz”
So it seems that the cute orphaned baby kangaroo found solace, comfort, company and, I should say, even stability in his teddy bear.
The photo went viral on the Internet and Twitter, with 3.3 thousand retweets, and hundreds of comments, acquiring headlines worldwide. So, the adorable Doodlebug can be spotted on the property of wildlife rescuer Gillian Abbot in Australia. She is thankful that the particular image is providing joy and emotional responses from so many people around the world.
Beshara reported about the eastern grey kangaroo that he was undergoing a so-called soft release, meaning he was able to roam in the nearby forest but would still come home for extra feeding.
Doodlebug would be similar to a child with his plush toy and, as a caring and devoted companion, he sits next to it, practicing his kicking against it and, in a very emotional display, cuddling it. Beshara stated that the kangaroo would lay in the grass next to its adventure companion, the teddy, in his daily endeavors.
The poor but afterwards lucky orphaned kangaroo was found abandoned when he approximately weighed 3 pounds, not being able to care for himself, but, at present time, he is very cheerful and healthy, weighing about 26 to 39 pounds. Doodlebug was initially spotted at the side of a road in New South Wales, southeastern Australia. It is unknown why he was all alone, though.
Tim Beshara said that they didn’t know whether the kangaroo’s mother had died either through a car accident or a dog attack, perhaps, or whether he was simply abandoned. Nevertheless, we can all be joyful, as Doodlebug found how to cope with his situation – the plush animal.
Nevertheless, the baby kangaroo is due to return to the wild sooner or later.
