Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly announced that he has just torn apart one of the memos that pertain to the Obama era. This document was meant to protect all immigrant parents of U.S. citizens as well as other immigrants without necessary papers. However, this Obama order became one of the many ways through which Trump administration wants to alienate America from its previous leadership.
Kelly Found the 2014 Obama Order with No Viable Future
On Thursday, Kelly endorsed the news according to which Trump administration is shutting down protection for immigrant parents. However, this was not a surprising decision. Donald Trump had previously promised for numerous times that he is going to put an end on two Obama memos that play a soft note with illegal immigration. The one regarding immigrants whose children became U.S. citizens resided in a continuous battle in federal court.
Therefore, the parties had an ultimatum on Thursday to decide a deadline for a solution to this case. However, Kelly turned to a proactive approach and rescinded the clause himself. He explained this decision through the official website of the department as a case that had “no credible path forward.” At the same time, Trump accepted the Obama’s 2012 order that offered U.S. citizenship to 800,000 undocumented immigrants who entered the country at an early age.
Around 4 Million Immigrant Parents Remained with No Governmental Support
Therefore, Kelly announced that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program also known as DACA would remain unaltered. However, this situation raises grounds for a stark discrepancy. While children are allowed to remain on U.S. soil, their main providers may not. The abolishment of the 2014 memo leaves around 4 million undocumented parents in U.S. with no work permits. Moreover, they are in danger of deportation.
Unlike former president, Trump administration is engaging in actions for stricter rules for immigration topic. More and more undocumented persons with no criminal records are ceased for arrest while officials are abiding their plans for building a wall on the southeastern border.
