Getting a vasectomy might sound like the last resort when trying to avoid a pregnancy, but men might experience some improvements in their sex life after the procedure is performed. Men are more likely to become more sexually active afterwards, and they get to enjoy it even more. This happens mostly because they no longer have to stress about getting their partner pregnant.
What is a vasectomy?
A vasectomy is a quick procedure which prevents semen from fertilizing an egg. It takes only around 15 minutes to cut the tube which transports sperm from the testicles to the penis. The process is not painful at all, uses dissolvable stitches, and doesn’t affect a man’s hormones.
Therefore, after a vasectomy, a man shouldn’t feel any different from a physical point of view. However, he suffers significant psychological changes. Many men who underwent this procedure said their sex lives improved. They had higher sex drives than before, their erections got better, and had orgasms a lot more often than before.
Both men and women reported higher sexual satisfaction after the procedure
However, the benefits don’t end here, as not only men felt better after a vasectomy. Their partners also reported feeling aroused and enjoying sex a lot more often than before. The level of satisfaction was much bigger in both partners, causing researchers to recommend this procedure to those couples who don’t want to have children.
This conclusion was reached by a team of researchers from Frankfurt University, which looked at 294 couples. From all these men involved, those who had had a vasectomy had sex around 12.4 percent more often than those who hadn’t. Most of them maintained the same sexual schedule, and the overall satisfaction of both men and women increased.
