Alpine authorities declared that they have positively identified the human remains found inside the West Texas shallow grave as belonging to 22-year-old Zuzu Verk.
Ronny Dodson of Brewster County Sheriff’s Office declared during a press conference held on Monday that the remains found scattered around the shallow grave in West Texas have been positively identified as belonging to the missing Zuzu Verk, the 22-year-old woman who vanished without a trace on the 12th of October.
Alpine police officials have announced a breakthrough in the murder case of Zuzu Verk, a 22-year-old student, who has been missing since October, 2016. Verk was last seen on the 12th of October leaving in the company of Robert Fabian, her 26-year-old boyfriend.
Zerk and Fabian were attending a movies night with some of their friends before she vanished without a track. Eyewitnesses declared that before heading home, Zuzu Verk and Robert Fabian had a heated argument. That’s the last time anyone has seen the young woman alive.
Fabian became a person of interest in Zuzu Verk’s disappearance after the authorities learned that the man was previously regarded as a suspect in a similar case. Upon investigating Fabian’s Alpine property, the authorities discovered a poorly dug grave in the forest, and several human remains scattered around the burial site.
Initially, the police officials could not identify the human remains found in the West Texas shallow grave and shipped them to Dallas for a full post-mortem examination. However, an Alpine County Police spokesperson stated that some of the objects found in the shallow grave strongly indicated that the body parts belonged to the departed Zuzu Verk.
On Monday, the Dallas pathologists concluded their examination of the body parts and declared that there is little doubt about the identity of the deceased – Zuzu Verk. Before the body was identified, Robert Fabian, Verk’s boyfriend, was arrested and charged with corpse concealment.
Another man, identified as 28-year-old Chris Estrada was arrested on Monday in connection with Zerk’s disappearance and murder.
Dodson declared that, following the body’s positive ID, Fabian might be charged with first-degree murder. When asked to comment on the case, Dodson declared that the perpetrators were clearly not in their right mind when digging out the poor woman’s grave. He added that if Fabian and his accomplice would have dug the grave deeper, then the body parts wouldn’t have been scattered by wild animals.
Although most of the details in the murder case of Zuzu Verk have been uncovered, the authorities are now investigating Fabian’s motive and looking for the murder weapon.
